Licensed Practical Nurse

Licensed Practical Nurse

Duties And Responsibilities: LPNs and licensed vocational nurses provide basic medical care. They work under the direction of registered nurses and doctors. They monitor patients' health, administer basic patient care, including changing bandages and inserting catheters. They provide for the basic comfort of patients, such as helping them bathe or dress. They discuss the care they are providing with patients and listen to their concerns. They report patients' status and concerns to registered nurses and doctors. They also keep records on patients' health.

Salary: For both a LPN and an LVN the median annual wage was $41,540 in May 2012.

Education: To become a LPN or a LVN requires completing and approved educational program they also must have a license. An LPN or a LVN must complete an approved educational program. These programs award certificate pr diploma and typically take about 1 year to complete, but may take longer. They are commonly found in technical schools and community colleges, though some programs may be available in high school and hospitals.

Reflection: I would like to be one because it is like nursing just much easier to get into it also makes the person who takes the job have more responsibility which is something I need. It also has good pay for its educational level.
